I'm a parent of North Middlesex students. Like many families, I want my children to gain independence without handing the internet unlimited access to their attention, identity, and childhood.
Why build this?
Waiting on smartphones and social media can help. I support the families behind NM Unplugged and the choice to delay. I also know that waiting is difficult, every family has different needs, and technology does not politely wait outside until high school.
Children encounter connected games, school accounts, group chats, videos, AI, scams, bullying, and other people's phones long before many of them own a smartphone. Parents need practical instructions. Students need answers that do not sound like punishment disguised as education.
What this site promises
- No shame. A mistake is a reason to help, not an excuse to humiliate.
- No fearbait. Risks are real; panic is not a strategy.
- No surveillance business model. No ads, accounts, profiling, or behavioral tracking.
- No purchased recommendations. Resources are selected for usefulness, not commissions.
- Plain disclosures. If a relationship or funding source ever changes, the site will say so.
This site provides general educational information, not legal, medical, mental-health, cybersecurity, or emergency services. Official resources are linked where specialized help is needed.
